We’ll put Zoomprov through its paces by maximizing your stage (screen) time and reinventing the online class format! Each week focuses on a different skill for your long form improv toolbox that applies uniquely to you and your goals. This action-oriented class is for anyone who already has a few improv training experiences under their belt (online or otherwise) and is ready to spend more hands-on time in a coaching environment rather than re-learning the fundamentals. Featuring group challenges, side-coaching, and individual feedback, we’ll provide an environment for you and your peers to practice what you love together while receiving notes from a seasoned teacher.
Workshop tuition is based on a suggested-donation model because we want them accessible to everyone. Some workshops prioritize enrolling participants who are underrepresented in the improv community, but we also allow those not selected to participate to 'audit' those sessions so everyone can join in some way. If you are able to pay for your workshop, we ask for $30 per session, but please give what you are able. Proceeds from suggested-donation workshops are used to fairly pay our monthly partnership teachers.
Often we are taught how to do improv “perfectly” but then you go to an audition, mash-up, or a new class and no one is doing perfect improv. What do you do? Take this workshop! This workshop will work on what to do when someone throws a curveball in an improv set. We’ll talk about how to recover and how to make your scene partners BOLD choice seem brilliant and continue to have fun in the scene!
One of the things we miss most about in-person performances is chatting about what we just watched with our friends. Devil’s Daughter was lucky to have a handful of our shows filmed from a front row seat (by the incredible Joel Luscombe) and we’d love to take a walk down memory lane with you for the sake of some good old fashioned improv shop talk! Register to watch a half hour show, streamed over Zoom, then join in on some light-hearted dissection with the improvisers from the performance (incl. Brad Pike and Gretchen Eng), along with our coach James Dugan. We’ll analyze the choices we made, what we wish we did differently, and what we miss most in anticipation of the eventual return to live performance!
With: Gretchen Eng, Brad Pike, James Dugan When: Wednesday, May 19th 6-8pm CT Price: $30 Suggested Donation
